By unveiling the redesign of their flagship apps, Microsoft is honing in on becoming a design beacon in the tech world - with a little help from us at f°am Studio hand in hand with Partner Director of Design at Office Nando Costa. The well known collection of mobile office apps got a fresh makeover that is stylishly minimal and exudes a friendly usability vibe. For the launch of the redesigns we created a film that interprets the impact of the mobile user interface toolkit in everyday life and celebrates the adaptability of Microsoft’s design components for mobile. The new look of the office apps are part of Microsoft's broader efforts to take mobile productivity to the next level. To celebrate the new appearance of Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, we developed unexpected playful narratives that artistically tell the story of rethinking how we interact with our mobile devices. Accompanied by a soundtrack composed by the wonderful people at Zeligsound, the result is a 90 seconds film that marks the start of Microsoft's new instagram account: microsoft_design. To celebrate its third season i decided to edit a DC with a bit of f°am on top. Honda has always endeavoured to go bold with their product imagery, and have been a progressive brand in that sense. Therefore we are especially pleased to finally make this simple yet striking piece for them together with the great team at Karmarama. f°am Studio’s concept revolves around several current Honda models on a giant hinged mobile. I still think it layed the foundation for our team to express themselves in the years to come. It’s a different kind of fashion project: what looks at first glance as an eccentric tangle of simulated dance and a color coordinated Pinterest exploration turns out to be a study of handcrafted algorithmic textiles and procedural surfaces presented in and for what we call exquisite realities. A synthetic ghost shifts simulated textiles from passive matter to live organisms. They behave like apparitions in an artificial choreography, with movements that are imaginary yet familiar.
